Run, Fat Boy, Run Premiere
This premiere brought out the best of both sides of the Atlantic! Cute looks and things to plan for, and not a bad one in the bunch! Nice job, ladies! Let's just show you what I'm talking about:
Am I going to do it? I think I will! Let's start with the flat out best look of the evening, on a woman who couldn't look bad if she tried! It does seem kind of unfair that she is so naturally beautiful, but what makes me love her more, is her incredible acting ability! Thandie Newton (pronounced 'Tandy') is one of the brightest stars in our acting universe, and ever since she starred opposite Oprah in Beloved, has been thrilling audiences by not just cashing in on her good looks, but by delivering the tough acting goods as well! And just look at her in this dress! How much fun is this! I don't think just anyone could pull off this color, or this much fluffy, flirty fun in a dress, but Thandie certainly can!
Another beautiful star of the movie is the actress India De Beaufort, who plays the lead character's landlord. She is gorgeous, but doesn't let that get in the way of her playing an intelligent and strong woman who knows how to get her way! She's best know for starring in a British television show, but hopefully this will get her more work that American's will see, as well!
Also on hand, was Amanda Bynes! Although she wasn't in the film, she showed up to lend her style and support to a great movie. This simple black dress showed off Amanda's stems, and the simple make-up to go with it really works for her!
Shelley Henning, Hollywood Girl-About-Town (without getting embarrasing!) had this great casual fashion selection to offer! We haven't seen enough of her lately, but if she dresses this well, we'd certainly like to! It's a great, simple blouse and jeans look, and her hair and make-up are gorgeous! Something about the gorgeous weather we've been having in LA is really helping people to go for those natural make-up looks! Yay, team!
A much more familiar face is that of Jillian Clare. Playing 'Days of Our Lives' Abigail Devereaux, she learned acting in the tough every-day-of-the-week way. Now she's been hard at work making her own way in Hollywood with a pilot in the works and a TV movie that she also produced! Don't underestimate this teen actress! And one who can dress herself as kewl as this - Watch out!
Another current 'Days of Our Lives' actress with a flair for style, is the sassy Kristen Renton! We love the look she chose for this night...but we are wondering what the connection is between DOOL and RFBR, aren't you?!? This cute little number certainly adds some well needed sparkle to the evening!
And just because we can't help it, we found the most amazing fashion photo of the week at the Capital Awards in London. The girl group Girls Aloud were on hand, and we can't wait to finally hear if they sound as good as they look! This combo of dresses and styles on these girls counts as our fashion winners of the week! Kudos to their stylist! Now if we could just hear their music on this side of the Atlantic!!!

Casual or Dressy?
This week we had a lot of both, as some stars were sacrificing beauty for warmth, and went for a more casual look at public events. But with the stars, they know that dressy or not, pictures will be taken and attentions will be paid! Let’s see how this week’s stars fared!
The place to be this week was the premiere of the movie “Stop-Loss” at the Director’s Guild in Los Angeles. For the pix of all the hot boys (Ryan Phillipe, Channing Tatum and Sean Faris) you’ll have to look elsewhere. But the girls came out in different states of dressy and ‘un’.
Let’s start with dressy! Jenna Dewan makes a colorful splash in this super-springy number! I think I had vintage Barbie dress that looked like this! Jenna looks cute and sweet in it, and I think we can safely say we are in the ‘no rules’ portion of the red carpet season!
To prove it, the director of the movie, Kimberly Pierce, sported a stunning suit cut just for her! Man-style but woman-tailored, and all director. Not tough to see who wore the pants in this movie!
Beautiful Joy Bryant must have been feeling a little under the weather that day, as she went for one of our favorite let’s-just-snuggle-and-get-comfy-at-the-movies outfits: A knit hat and matching giant wrap over a simple jeans and t-shirt combo and ankle boots. How dare she look so good in her nearly pajamas!
Fashion winner of the night was Natassia Malthe, with this incredible mini dress and up-do combo. Can we scream “I want that dress!” together? Possibly best known for playing the character Typhoid in the movie Elektra, you can see that she’s trying to lose her femme fatale reputation for a cuter one.
Another ‘place to be’ this week was at the ‘upfronts’ in LA. It’s a TV tradition, where casts and creators of different shows get together to get the press excited about what they can expect in the coming months from different TV shows. Shows like Chuck and Pushing Daisies had their fun last week, and here are some pix to prove it!
Definitely a more casual affair than a premiere, actress Julia Ling shows off her fierce style in this fitted leather jacket, jeans and boots ensemble. She may look like a little doll, but this girl is one amazing martial artist! Never judge a book by its cover!
Also at the Chuck party was super agent star Yvonne Strahovski. She kept things hovering between dressy and casual with her silk blouse and matching heels, paired with jeans and a white blazer. One thing you can’t do with this crowd, though – catch them not smiling, laughing or joking! Let us play too!
And over at the Pushing Daisies party, Sammi Hanratty was showing off her super style and new shorter hair! We wonder what new project would make her cut off all that beautiful long hair?!? No worries! It looks great, Sammi!
Whether you go dressy or casual, the theme here is, keep things pulled together! No really crazy missteps this week, so we’ll get back to fashion bashing another time. Yay for fashion!

Black and White and Having a Ball!
Things were so busy during ‘awards season’, that we still need to work to keep you up to date with all the wonderful fashions being shown at all the pre-event parties and gifting parties! What’s a gifting party you ask? It’s just the best part of being a celebrity in Hollywood, that’s what! Gifting parties are when lots of different new and upcoming companies host a party in order to give their products to celebs in hope of getting a picture of them using it, or a quote they can use to help bring awareness to the product. But the only part of all that that you paid attention to was the part where they get stuff and they get to keep it, right? Uh, huh!
The only catch is, you’ve got to dress up to get it! And in Hollywood, between getting a dress, shoes, hair and make-up, and maybe a driver for the evening, it can still be a break even event. Nevermind! We just want to see the dresses! A popular theme this year was the tried and true Black and White combo! Here we go!
New combos was the rule this year, with new prints, styles, drapes and fabric combos that made it more than boring and safe old black and white! Gabrielle Union proved this rule in her sassy pants, turtle and trench combo! We especially love the trench/peacoat look that was all over this season – kinda oldstyle military in a way, dontcha think?
Jenna Malone ‘saved’ us from boredom by wearing this edgy, asymmetrical dress and strappy heels. Her blond locks may take a bit of getting used to, but knowing this actress, it’s for a part, and will be gone with the next make-up change!
Kristen Bell brought us this nifty new print on her dress. You might recognize the background from another article, as it’s the same diamond party that everyone was wearing those fabulous grey dresses at! Oh – and don’t get too excited: They don’t actually give them the diamonds. They are only on loan for the awards shows. Heavy sigh!
We we’re loving the dress that Laura Michelle Kelly wore to the premiere of “Sweeny Todd” in London, only they didn’t get the best pictures of her in it! L She does look like she’s having a great time though, and doesn’t that make all the difference? If you don’t recognize her, she plays the blonde wife of Johnny Depp’s character, and another role – but if I told you, I’d ruin the whole movie for you!
Again with the diamonds! We’re almost sure the dresscode for this gala was ‘grey’, but Leighton Meester and Kristen Bell both know that’s what you get when you mix white and black. They just didn’t feel like mixing it all the way, that’s all! It’s not too gossipy to say she’s looking great though, is it?
The Critics Choice Awards brought out the more conservative ‘all-black looks on Ellen Page (of Juno),
and Nikki Blonsky (do we have to explain?).
Both ladies looked wonderful in their all black ensembles, but the winner for breaking the rules with a vengeance was Kyra Sedgewick in her AMAZING red and black delight! She’s a full on mom, but one you wouldn’t be embarrassed to be seen with! Can we say ‘at all’?!? So jealous!
So there it is – now consider how classy black and white can be… at least until the next pink dress pops up!
