Summer Make-Up: Less is More!

Some girls wear more make-up than others year round, and some girls wear none at all, but in every girl’s life, there are some situations in which make-up might be necessary, or even appropriate! And if those situations happen to come up in the summer time, it’s good to know a few summer make-up secrets to keep you pretty and fresh, whether you have a lot of experience with it or not!
1. Keep it light.
Let’s be honest! You’re probably out in the sun a lot right now, and are getting a pretty healthy natural glow. Even people who prefer to stay pale can’t help but get a little glowy from all the natural sunlight bouncing around them at this time of year. So this is the perfect time of year to lay off the foundation if you normally use it, and switch to a tinted moisturizer or simple powder instead. Most moisturizers have some sun protection these days, which is an added bonus, and either choice will help even up your skin tone all over.
2. Keep it dry.
If you normally like the look of cream eye shadows or blushes, or are wondering which ones to buy, you can safely avoid them in summer! The heat can make it seem like your skin is simply sucking them in, and they crease more easily in your eye-lids too. Find some nice light powders instead.
3. Add some sparkle.
As with anything attention grabbing, a little goes a long way. Decide on just one area to highlight, like your eyes, or your shoulders if you’re wearing a strappy top. And stay away from actual glitter! There are plenty of sparkly powders out there that have a very small grains – real glitter can scratch you up pretty badly, especially if it gets into your eyes!
4. Make it waterproof.
If you know you’ll be around the water, or know you’ll be dancing so hard it’ll feel like you took a swim (!), then you might want to make your make-up options waterproof. The old standby is waterproof mascara, but there are also waterproof tinted moisturizers, blushes (which can be used as eye shadow if the color is natural). Just be sure to have the correct make-up removers at home too! Simple soap and water may not be able to remove some products, so be prepared! One for eyes and one for your face, to make sure that you can have a clean face for bed at night!
And just remember: the most beautiful thing here is what you were born with! And additions should only highlight the natural beauty you already have! Shine on!
