Holy Bat Milk?!?
May 30, 2008
It looks like the Dark Knight is a big fan of milk…or is it just that Christian Bale wants to put healthy choices back in teens diets? The new Body By Milk ad will be coming out June 1st everywhere. Christian Bale, who will be playing Batman in the new movie out July 18th, doesn’t do very much publicity, so when he does, you can be sure it’s something he feels strongly about. He’s been a working actor since he was a little kid, so maybe milk is the fuel of champions?!? Give it a try!
Congrats Jolie-Pitts!
May 30, 2008
It is confirmed that Angelina Jolie gave birth to twins this week! How a couple so much in the media managed to keep the birth of twins secret is beyond belief, but we respect the fact that they were able to make such an intimate family moment theirs alone. It is rumored that the baby girls are named Isla Marcheline and Amelie Jane, in honor of each of their mothers. The total count in the Jolie-Pitt team is now 6, with girls winning out four to two! Congratulations to all of them!

His song “The Time of My Life” checks in at number three, and below we’ve listed all the songs in the top 50 for you to check out! Congratulations, David C!

Battle of Bellies

May 28, 2008
At the Cannes Film Festival, Kung Fu Panda had it’s official premiere, and two of it’s most ‘belli-ful’ stars were on hand to celebrate: Jack Black and Angelina Jolie! Angelina is carrying twins around under that eye-catching green gown (which also happens to match the Panda’s eyes perfectly!), which explains why she is approaching a very circular shape, but what is Mr. Black’s excuse?!? Just kidding! We love him the way he is! What ever shape and size that happens to be, it’s always funny! Look forward to the movie’s US premiere on June 6th!

Happy Birthday, Darin!

Ben Barnes and William Moseley Down Under

May 27, 2008
Over the Memorial Day weekend, William Moseley and Ben Barnes made the trip to Sydney, Australia for the opening of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. The film opened last weekend in the US and made $56 million in its first weekend. It is expected to do well in most foreign markets. For those of you who saw it, you'll most likely be looking forward to part three of The Chronicles of Narnia, which sadly has been delayed by almost a year and you'll have to wait until the summer of 2010 to continue with the adventures of Prince Caspian and the 4 Pevensie siblings!
Bow Wow Quits Music
May 27, 2008
Most of us know him as Bow Wow or Lil' Bow Wow, but his real name is Shad Moss. He has been an actor-rapper for many years but has decided at the age of 21, that from now on, he's focusing 100% on his acting.
Moss recently joined the cast of HBO's Entourage for its 5th season and will playing role of Charlie, a stand-up comic... In addition, he's got 2 more films coming out next year that he'll be playing major roles in.
"After 16 years in the music industry and six successful albums, I've decided to shift my energy to something else I'm passionate about, acting," Moss said. "I'm going to try to be the next Will Smith."
But even Will took a break from his busy acting schedule to make an album or two over the years. So we're guessing at some point in his future, Bow Wow will make music again for all of his fans.
Happy Memorial Day!

May 26, 2008
Most of our American readers probably aren't at home reading their emails today, as their too busy out at picnics and carnivals and generally enjoying this first official Holiday of the summer! Though it's not officially summer until June 21st, and no one really thinks it's summer until school is finally out, we get a taste of things to come with this three day weekend! But what is it all about? Memorial Day is meant to be a day when Americans remember the US military men and women who have died in service for their country. It began with the US Civil War, and was later expanded to include any soldier killed in any military action. There is a national moment of remembrance at 3pm Eastern Standard Time, or you can fly the family flag at half mast, or even volunteer at a local military cemetery to plants thousands of little flags there. Whatever you do, dedicate your joy to the memory of those who aren't here with us anymore. We're sure they'd love to watch you having a good time for them!
Alicia Keys "As I Am" Tour
May 26, 2008
Yesterday, fans got a treat at the Alicia Keys 'As I Am' tour at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. Special guest performances included Ne-Yo and Jordin Sparks.
The eleven time GRAMMY award winner kicked off her world tour in February, including the European cities of Glasgow, Copenhagen, Zurich, Paris and Milan.
Check our Alicia's latest video, Teenage Love Affair here
Keys joined forces with humanitarian Leigh Blake to create "Keep A Child Alive", an organization that provides medical support and care to families dealing with HIV/AIDS. Keys said, "'I have been blessed to travel around the world. I have spent a lot of time in Africa, and during those trips got to see firsthand the needs of people suffering with AIDS... I knew I needed to do something.''
Keys is also encouraging fans to make a $5 donation to Keep A Child Alive by texting the word ''Alive'' to 90999. Fans can watch her film here to get a better understanding of her organization.
From Sea To…

May 23, 2008
Hawaiian big wave surfing superstar Laird Hamilton takes the surf to the lady! Out showing the world his newest fave sport - paddle boarding – he takes to the Hudson River to circle the Statue of Liberty on a surfboard. That has to be some kind of record! Paddle boarding requires good balance and is an incredible total body workout. The boards are much longer and wider than even regular longboard surfboards, and because you are paddling while standing, every stroke requires a chain of muscle contractions from your fingers right down to your toes! And you’re getting quite a unique view of your surroundings, too! We’re not sure the sport will catch on in New York, but it should do well in warmer ocean-side areas…especially ones that don’t have that much surf! Thanks for the interesting photo, Laird!

American Girl

May 22, 2008
Are you already a fan! Coming up for the July 4th weekend, Abigail Breslin will be starring in the movie version of “Kit Kittredge: An American Girl”, and she’ll be playing Kit! Whether or not you are already familiar with the series of books, based on the lives of average girls growing up during exciting eras of American history, this movie is already shaping up to take us by storm. Abigail was in the Los Angeles American Girl Store last week, talking about the upcoming movie and talking with fans. The movie is set during the 1930s, when America was going through The Great Depression, which was a slump in the economy even worse than the one we have now! Each American Girl story shows how even just one person with a good idea and the energy to follow through can change things for the better. And then there are the dolls and the accessories and the clothes and the…don’t get us started! Just add a trip to the store to your family’s schedule when visiting New York, Chicago Dallas, Atlanta or Los Angeles! Too much fun!

And the Winner is...

Thursday, May 22
He's #1! Our new American Idol is David Cook! Or as we all refer to him, DC! The 25-year-old bartender from Blue Springs, Missouri. He beat out David Archuleta by 12 million votes. Even in his excitement, Cook took time to congratulate Archuleta and give him a hug. Simon Cowell apologized for being disrespectful towards Cook. "An apology from Simon is a pretty rare gem," said DC.
The highlight of the show came near the end when David Cook sang for the first time as the reigning American Idol. He sang the winning song from the songwriting competition, “The Time of My Life," written by Regie Hamm.
Of course the Jo Bros were there to spice things up, as well as past Idol winner Carrie Underwood.
David Archuleta summed up the end of Idol as "a big relief." Now we just get to do what we love to do without it being viewed as a competition and being judged right after singing."
We expect both Davids to release albums within the next few months and expect to see some other AI "rejects" from this season on the charts too!
Gavin’s Turn
May 21, 2008
Gwen Stefani’s husband is now getting his turn at bat. The musical couple has worked out a great way to let each of them have their solo time in the sun, while still being together and raising a family. It’s called ‘taking turns’ and it’s a sign of how strong their marriage is that they can do this for each other. Gwen went on tour last year with her husband Gavin Rossdale and baby Kingston in tow. Now Gavin has released his first single, “Love Remains the Same”, as momma Gwen tags along, and with baby number two on the way! This is a great rock family to watch for how it can be done right! Gavin’s video for the single is out now – what do you think of it?

Doh!
May 20, 2008
The Simpson’s ride was unveiled yesterday at Universal Studios Hollywood in California. Maggie Grace of Lost and came out to test the ride, and if she looks like she might be ‘glowing’ just a bit, it’s because temperature topped 102 degrees Fahrenheit! That’s a little hot for this time of year – even for California! The ride is an indoor ride (air-conditioning!) that replaces the long time favorite Back to the Future flight simulation ride. The ride is not only a roller coaster simulator, but also boasts never-ending in-jokes and laughs for every level of Simpsons-lover. The Florida ride opened back in April, so if you’re on either coast this summer, come out and check out the laughs!

Ashlee and Pete!

May 19, 2008
They’re hitched! The world’s cutest couple made it official this weekend at her parents house during a small sunset ceremony. The knot is tied, and now all that is left is for the rest of us to give up our crushes on these guys, and find other people to bestow them on! Congratulations to the happy couple!
Hicks Hits Broadway
May 16, 2008
In a long string of ex-Idol contestants and finalists to find a place on the Great White Way, American Idol Winner Taylor Hicks is slated to join the cast of the musical “Grease”. In the role of the “Teen Angel” (played in the movie version by one of the first teen idols ever, Frankie Avalon – check out those old “Beach Party” movies!), he’ll have a chance to hold the stage in the middle of a huge musical number with oohing and aahing showgirls. It’s a plumb role, and a great way to make an entrance onto Broadway! Other Idol finalists who have gone on to star in Broadway roles are Fantasia Barrino (The Color Purple), Clay Aiken (Spamalot), Diana DiGarmo (Hairspray), Constantine Maroulis (The Wedding Singer) and though it wasn’t on Broadway, Jennifer Hudson did take home an Academy Award for her role in the movie version of “Dreamgirls”, a Broadway classic. Can’t wait to see who’ll hit Broadway next from this latest crop of Idols!

Jonas Gets Idolized

May 16, 2008
It’s just been announced that the Jonas Brothers will perform on the season finale of American Idol next week! So tune in to watch the Davids battle it out on Tuesday, and complete the boy-fest with a performance from the JoBro on Wednesday! Thursday Indy opens with Shia…okay, having trouble breathing here! And if you aren’t seeing this weekend’s boyfest “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” with Ben Barnes, William Mosely and Skandar Keynes, you can add it to next weekend and complete the swoon into a total dead faint! Did we just get a little of subject? Oh, yeah – Watch American Idol next week!

Everything Old…

May 15, 2008
Is new again! The 80’s are officially back with a vengeance, as the old standby TV hit “Beverly Hills, 90210” is back! There’s even a whole cast picture available, so whereas we all thought things were just in the rumor stages, Hollywood has been keeping quite the secret! As in the original, the story will center around the students at Beverly Hills High, and a little bit about their families, who just happen to be the now grown-up kids from the original series! Even Jennie Garth has agreed to return as a school counselor, though the way we remember it, no one was in more need of counseling than her character! We guess that’s what growing up can do? Hope so! You can look for the show this fall on the CW.

Bye, Bye, Syesha!
May 15, 2008
Last night, despite huge advances in her performances, Syesha Mercado was, as expected, sent home from American Idol. Expectations for the two Davids as the Idol top 2 have long been a topic of conversation, and now it is a reality. At the end of the show, as is tradition, the guys tossed a coin to see who would sing first on next week’s final night of competition. The coin was a specially made one, with “David A.” on one side and “David C.” on the other! David A. won the toss, but chose to sing second – is this some new strategy he has up his sleeve? Some people think it’s harder to start first, while other performers prefer to start the show – we’ll see how his plan pays off next week! Can’t wait to see what they’ll sing next!

Happy Birthday, Miranda!
May 14, 2008
Miranda is turning 15 today! This iCarly star is all smiles as her career keeps getting bigger and bigger. With her iTalent, where will she go next? How about New York? Drake & Josh in New York! Maybe iCarly will continue? One thing we know we can look forward to is the new iCarly album with songs from the star herself! Enjoy your day to the fullest, Miranda!

Three TV Sets

May 14, 2008
That’s what you’ll need if you want to watch “Camp Rock” on all three stations it will be showing on June 20th! No matter what your hook-up, you’ve got a choice that should reach every household in America: Disney Channel, ABC and ABC Family! The soundtrack is set to street on June 17th The only downside? Well, maybe there are two: It’s still a month until then (!), and you can’t own a copy of your very own until August 19th! This is a true lesson in patience! – so we’re sure most of you will have the whole thing memorized in time for the DVD release.

Miley’s New Single
May 13, 2008
Today, Miley Cyrus debuted her new single “7 Things” on the syndicated radio show Elvis Duran and the Zoo (do you get it where you live?). She says the song is about a recent break-up, and lists what she hates about her ex…are we talking a certain Jonas Brother, here?!? But she also sings about the 7 things she loves, so at least it’s not a crazy ex rant! Her next album is due on July 22nd, and you can check the new single here!

Black Belt
May 12, 2008
Comedy star Jack Black is coming out with another family friendly movie this summer, and he’s also recorded a song to go with it! This multi-talented funny man has been half of the comedy-rock duo Tenacious D since his pre-fame days, and can belt out a ballad like the best of them. So when it came time to record a song for his animated feature “Kung Fu Panda”, what better song could he cover than the 1974 hit, “Kung Fu Fighting”?!? If you don’t already know the song, you soon will! It’s one heck of a dance track, and Mr. Black will be doing the song as a duo with Cee-Lo, who is one half of another famous music duo, Gnarls Barkley! The song will come out digitally on May 27th, the whole soundtrack to the movie on June 3rd, and you can see the movie beginning June 6th! Just say,” Huh! Hah!”

Jazz Hands
May 12, 2008
All HSM hands were on deck at last night’s Utah Jazz game against the LA Lakers. Zac and Vanessa have been spotted in the stands before, but this time they brought along castmate Ashley Tisdale to share in the fun and the fans as well. All three were signing basketballs for fans and just enjoying the game, and Zac and Vanessa even obliged by kissing cutely for the ‘smooch-cam’. They’ve got their head in the game. The Lakers lost, but something tells us these two are becoming quite the Utah fans!

Happy Birthday, Lindsey!
May 10, 2008
Lindsey is turning 19! Now that Lindsey has survived "James K. Polk Middle School", she's moved on to living with her "family" and their new foreign exchange student! Comedy is definitely Lindsey's forte. We wish her all the best in the new year!

Singing Selena?
May 9, 2008
Looks like Selena Gomez, star of Disney’s “Wizards of Waverly Place” (and one of KEWL’s ten greenest teen celebs!) may be sharing her beautiful voice with us soon as well! Hollywood Records, Disney’s music label, is trying to sign the young star, but that shouldn’t be too difficult – who wouldn’t want to sign with the record label that brought us Miley Cyrus AND the Jonas Brothers?!? Hurry up and sign, Selena! We’re all waiting to hear how sweet you sound!

Iron or Speed?

May 9, 2008
Which will it be? Last week’s #1 opener “Iron Man” or this week’s newcomer on the scene “Speed Racer”? There are high expectations for the family friendly fun of the Wachowski Brother’s new film based on the old Saturday morning cartoon show, but will it meet them? Hollywood is placing it’s bets on the more mature comic-book tale of “Iron Man” to take the box office once again this weekend, but are they just underestimating the family and teen audiences? We’ll see as the ‘summer’ movie season really kicks off tonight!
Esmee’s Logo!

May 8, 2008
Are you a budding graphic designer? Well this is your big chance! Recording and YouTube sensation Esmee is letting one of her fans design her official logo! Last year, her videos on YouTube got her so much attention that even Justin Timberlake went out to find her, and she became the first artist signed to his Tennman Record label. After that, she went on tour with him as his opening act all across Europe. And now she’s spreading the love by starting a contest among her fans to see who comes up with the best logo to symbolize what she truly means to the world. Esmee will personally select her fave (!), and that design will be entered in to the running to be the official logo. Okay, so she’s letting a few professionals in on the game as well, but we’re pretty sure one of her fans will get the gig in the end! And, the one chosen as her fave gets $500 for the design! Complete instructions on how to enter are available at www.EsmeeWorld.com. The deadline is Saturday, May 11th, so get working!
Bye, Bye Jason!
May 8, 2008
We sadly wave a fond farewell to those beautiful eyes and funky dreadlocks. The final nail in his Idol coffin was hammered in on Tuesday night, when he forgot the words to Bob Dylan’s iconic “Mr. Tambourine Man”. Other contestants have forgotten the words before now, but were usually able to at least sing something in there place and go mostly unnoticed by the audience. Now, it’s just too far in to the competition for any mistakes, and though we’re sure this is not the last time we will see him, it certainly is the last time in this competition. On the brighter side, the American Idols Live tour, featuring all top ten contestants, was officially announced for this summer, beginning July 1st and ending mid-September, with tickets available beginning May 17th. Also great is the news that the top three will be performing three songs each beginning next week! More Idol!

Jonas in 3D!

May 7, 2008
After the incredible success of Miley Cyrus 3D concert film “Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert”, Disney has decided to repeat the pattern…or is it 3-peat? This time around, the Jonas Brother’s “Burning Up” Tour will be the focus of the film, plus plenty of backstage and behind the scenes footage to help you deal with that Jonas craving you’ve been having! The guys have a busy year planned out ahead! Their first original movie “Camp Rock” will premiere on Disney Channel on June 20th, the tour begins in Toronto on July 4th, their next album should street in August, their first original TV series “J.O.N.A.S.” will premiere in the fall, and the 3D movie should be ready in 2009! We asked for more Jonas, and they are delivering!

Betty Goes NYC!
May 7, 2008
The producers of the hit TV show “Ugly Betty” have announced that the show will move production from LA to NYC for next season. The show’s action takes place in New York City, but has been filmed in Los Angeles up until now. Apparently the move will cut filming costs, but our hearts go out to the actors who live and have their families in LA! It also seems a strange move at exactly this time, as the Motion Picture Producers have just stopped new contract negotiations with the Screen Actor’s Guild, and setting things in motion for an Actor’s strike to begin this summer! Let’s hope that doesn’t happen, but it does make planning for that new NYC apartment a bit tougher!

Christina Falls Back!
May 6, 2008
Well, really, we mean she’ll be back in the fall! The new mommy is already back at work in the studio on her next album, and expects it to be ready sometime in the fall. Though the overall sound for the new release isn’t set yet, the singer has set a few things it won’t be like: Her last album and the work of Timbaland. What? No Timbaland? She said, “I love Timbaland’s music for example but I would never work with people like that because everyone else is doing it already.” Let’s hope that she makes something truly unique, then, to make it worth the risk! And thinking about it, we’re sure she will. Let’s hope Timbaland doesn’t get his feathers ruffled by the comment!

Jordin Recovers!
May 6, 2008
American Idol Jordin Sparks is still working despite being on full vocal rest so that she can heal from her ‘acute vocal hemorrage’. That means no talking, laughing, or singing for the bubbly performer. “Can I tell you how hard that is!?” she said, cheating just enough to send out her thanks to her fans. “Thank you for all the prayers and your concern. You guys are what keep me going, honestly. But not to worry! I’ll be better in no time!” We all hope so, and hope to see her back in her opening spot for Alicia Keys tour soon!

Chris is turning 19 and he's burning up the charts with his songs and awesome moves. But Chris doesn't just sing and dance, he's also on the big screen. Is there anything Chris can't do? You're so talented, can we give you a birthday Kiss Kiss?

Avril Postpones!

Due to acute laryngitis, Avril Lavigne is postponing six of her early May concerts in the US! On her website on Saturday, she blogged, "My sincerest apologies to all of my fans. My intention was to complete the rest of the tour but tonight at sound check in Anaheim I realized this wasn't possible." Refunds are being offered, and though this is only a postponement, no dates for the new concerts have been set as of yet. Let’s hope that Avril recuperates quickly, and can be back up where she belongs, belting it out in front of her fans! The following are the dates that are postponed:
May 3: Anaheim, Calif. (Honda Center)
May 4: Universal City, Calif. (Gibson Amph. At Univ. CityWalk)
May 6: Santa Barbara, Calif. (Santa Barbara Bowl)
May 7: San Jose, Calif. (HP Pavilion At San Jose)
May 9: Spokane, Wash. (Spokane Arena)
May 10: Everett, Wash. (Comcast Arena/Everett Events Ctr.)

True Sportsmanship

May 2, 2008
At a college softball game this week, two players showed what sportsmanship should really be about! This game was to decide which team would go on in the play-offs, and which would be left behind this season. Sara Tucholsky had just hit a home-run, but injured her knee rounding first base, and could not round the bases herself. In baseball, you must round all bases for the home-run score to count, and this home-run would be the winning score for her team. The referees determined that she must round the bases, and would be disqualified if any of her teammates tried to help her, but she couldn’t. Then Mallory Holtman and Liz Wallace, players from the opposing team, did something wonderful. They picked up Sara and carried her around the bases, giving her the score, and helping Sara’s team go on to win the game. Sara had never hit a home run, and Mallory is the all-time home run leader in their division. Mallory knew how much this home run meant to Sara. "In the end, it is not about winning and losing so much," Holtman said. "It was about this girl. She hit it over the fence and was in pain and she deserved a home run." Let’s hear it for the girls!

Bye, Bye, Brooke!
May 1, 2008
Last night, sweet Brooke White didn’t get the votes she needed to stay, and was asked to leave American Idol. Strange, in a world where the voices of Colbie Callait, Leona Lewis, Fergie, Sarah Bareilles, Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne and many more all have similar stylings to the songstress. Maybe it just proves that most American Idol watchers are mostly girls and would rather keep looking at Jason Castro for another week despite some not so amazing performances? Who knows, but now it’s down to three guys and one girl, and the pressure is waaaay on for Syesha! Already this week we had five singers from five different backgrounds, so from here on out it’s about flawlessness and showmanship. Good luck to all!
