March 31, 2008 It’s great to see who isn’t too old to get slimed! Among the adults doused in green goo during Nickelodeon’s 2008 Kid’s Choice Awards this weekend were host Jack Black, sometime-pirate Orlando Bloom, and legendary movie hero Harrison Ford! Supermodel Heidi Klum showed that she can be super silly too, by donning a jumpsuit with slime-balloon-piercing stingers on her backside! Of course, the most awards went to Miley Cyrus: one for best female singer, and one for best actress…but if you look closely, it’s kind of a tie with Drake Bell! He got one for his series Drake & Josh, and one on his own for best actor! Best Male Singer went to Chris Brown this year and Cameron Diaz showed how truly kewl she is, by sitting in a booth and demonstrating her amazing burping skills! A fun, and weird time was had by all! Congratulations to ALL the winners! Hot Jonas News!March 31, 2008  Yesterday KEWL spotted Joe Jonas while he was out on a – dare we say ‘date’? – with actress Chelsea Staub. The couple was super nice, relaxed, and having a good time sharing stories that we DID NOT eavesdrop on! It took so much effort not to!!! And - need we even say it? - they make a really cute couple! How nice for them that mostly grown-ups go to this café, and no one recognized or bothered them! Just regular teens, hanging out. We hope the day went well!

Abigail-American Girl Scout of America!March 28, 2008  Little Miss Sunshine star Abigail Breslin was inducted into the Girl Scouts of America this week! She even learned the three finger sign of the Scouts, which represents one’s own spiritual beliefs, other people and the Girl Scout Law. Her newest movie, Nim’s Island, will be coming out April 4th in theatres, and she’ll follow that up by playing the starring role in “Kit Kittredge: An American Girl”, the first movie in what should be a great series based on the figures in their historical American Girl doll collection. Kit Kittredge comes out July 2nd.

It’s Slime Time!March 28, 2008  This Sunday, it’s time again for the Nickelodeon 2008 Kid’s Choice Awards! Jack Black will host of the madness, as the favorite stars of American teendom come out to receive awards for such crazy things as the “Wanna Be” awards (who kids most want to be!)…and of course, to get SLIMED! They got everything right! Her hair, her smile, the way she stands…as a matter of fact, it’s kinda creepy how life-like it is, isn’t it? Crowds of fans and even whole fan-clubs came out to get their pictures taken with the new figure. Isn’t it kewl how close they let people get to these works of art?!? March 21, 2008 This girl has been ripping up the charts all year, and is currently topping two at the same time with her new single “Love Song”! If you don’t know who Sarah Barailles is yet, then it’s just because you don’t know her name yet. No one on the planet can have missed her last smash single “One Sweet Love”! It was simply everywhere! Both tunes are on her album “Little Voice” which is already out in stores and available digitally. We went to Amazon.com to take a listen, and we’re hooked on the whole album! See if it’s up your alley, too!

Today is the first day of spring, and that’s good for so many reasons! That’s because the Disney Channel has announced a new reality series about The Jonas Brothers, and it’s set to start this spring! That means we have less than three months to wait for it! The show will be made up of backstage footage taken during their current “Look Me in the Eyes” tour, following the guys while they rehearse, travel, and take advantage of being teens with a little more scope than most. Have you ever been sky-diving? Well, on the show, you can see what it’s like when Kevin, Joe and Nick give it a try. (photo: pr photos) The Jonas Brothers have turned up the heat on their summer tour, and given it a suitable new name! The “Burning Up” tour will begin July 4th in Toronto and keeping going through late August. If you’re a member of their fanclub, you can get access to tickets starting on March 25th (that’s next Tuesday!), while the rest of the population can buy them starting Saturday the 29th. The guys are actually still on the road with their Look Me in the Eyes Tour, but they can look forward to a little break, as they finish this round the day before Easter (this Saturday). Hopefully this will give the guys some time to finish off a new album! They already have a bunch of new songs and are already playing them on tour, so when do we get to hear them anytime we want? What wasn’t new was the theme: The Beatles. Otherwise, there were a lot of surprises! Gorgeous versions of old favorite ballads, and new fun rocking versions of the uptempo ones. Syesha in her beautiful green gown, David back to ballads, Chikezie learned harmonica for his song!!! And our favorite thing of all? Sensible responses from the contestants to their critiques! They know you can’t be perfect all the time, but the only way to get closer to perfect, is to listen when those who care give you advice. And yes! Even Simon cares! The least impressive performances? It is possible that we’ll see Ramiele, Kristy and Amanda at the bottom tonight. Ashlee Sets Date! March 18, 2008
No, not that date! She and her boyfriend Pete Wentz are still just ‘promised’ to each other. But she has set a date for her new album to officially hit the streets! April 22nd is the big day, and it will coincide with her appearing on the show “Dancing With the Stars”. Before that, she’ll have quite a few more tour dates, meet and greets with fans, as well as making an appearance on the 2008 Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards on March 29th, and a little visit to the Today Show on April 18th. Busy month for somebody! And there’s even talk of a summer tour. The album is said to be very 80’s inspired, which goes well with the retro 80’s style she sports and the 80’s style of her videos! Gnarls Moves Date! March 18, 2008
Originally, the unlikely duo of Cee-Lo and Dangermouse (otherwise known as Gnarls Barkley) was due to release their newest album “The Odd Couple” on April 8th – now they’re pushing that date closer. On March 25th their album will now officially street, and whether it’s because of internet leaks of some of the tracks, or like the label says, the guys just feels the time is right, it doesn’t matter to us! We get more new Gnarls sooner! On the group’s website they had this to say,” With the shifting seasons, furtive romantic entanglements and fierce college basketball rivalries, the latter half of March can be confusing. People need to be soothed and inspired now.” We have nearly no idea what that means, but is sounds kewl, doesn’t it? I Know My Kid’s A Star March 17, 2008
Have you heard of this new TV show on VH1? It will be hosted by Danny Bonaduce, a former child star himself, and will be like a combination of Idol, Survivor and Big Brother! Except this time, it’s about kids who want to be stars and their sometimes over-achieving parents! The show will feature 10 parent/child teams all living in one house while they compete in challenges that show if they have what it takes to be a child star. One of the toughest, and hopefully most fun teams, is that of 11 year old Devon Goocher and her rocker dad Kevin. Since living in your own house with your own parents is never a quiet, well ordered time, imagine 10 parents and ten kids, and they really are trying to get rid of each other! On this greenest of days (Happy Saint Paddy’s Day!) one of the greenest of celebrities, Ed Begley, Jr., has signed on to judge the ‘Going Green Challenge’, a contest to reward the most innovative green ideas that teens in America can come up with! Ed was green before the word meant anything more than a color, and has been riding his bicycle, driving his electric car, and inventing environmentally friendly household cleaners all from his Hollywood adjacent home! The contest will award $10,000 to the teen with the best and most effective idea for solving the environmental challenges facing us today. And that could really offset some college costs, and really improve your future in all sorts of ways! It's Degrassi night on The N, and tonight at 8pm is the special documentary "Degrassi: Doing What Matters" about the cast's trip to Kenya to build a school for the kids there. Yeah, some of you say you wish there wasn't a school where you live - but in reality, you'd be pretty badly off if there wasn't one! Not too many options in the world for the undeducated. The actor's do what matters, and it doesn't just change the situation in the town where they've built the school, but in themselves. Hey! You don't have to go all the way to Africa to do that! Mermaids, Anyone? March 14, 2008
Uh, oh! Now you have a choice! And not an easy one! Will you watch the Degrassi Documentary tonight on The N, or H20 on Nickelodeon? H20 is a new show about three girlfriends who stumble upon an ancient seaside cave and undergo a magical transformation there. On land they are ordinary teens, but when they hit the water, they become mermaids with amazing magical powers. The show premieres tonight at 8pm with a one-hour movie, and then goes into regular episodes starting Sunday, March 16th @ 7:30pm. Yes! We know it’s at the same time as Degrassi! So get those TiVo and recording device-programming skills out and put them to good use. You don’t want to miss anything tonight!

March 13, 2008 Last night was possibly the last we’ll see of American Idol contestant David Hernandez. He may have known he was on his way out even before the announcement was made, judging from his bottom three performance. Syesha Mercado and Kristy Lee Cook are safe for now, but how safe? Sometimes only a few points separate contestants, and that’s at every level! These girls are really going to have to work hard next week to solidify their position in the contest! March 11, 2008 Last night, the newest members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were ‘inducted’ into the ranks of those Rock and Pop superstars who have come before them. It’s an honor bestowed only upon those who have truly stood the test of time, and who’s music has remained classic throughout the years. This year’s inductees included Madonna (who is still making a contribution with new music every year), John Mellencamp (ditto), Leonard Cohen, the Dave Clark Five, and the Ventures. Ever rocked out to ‘Jack and Diane’? Ever gone all coffee house on us and listened to ‘Hallelujah’? Did you ever feel “Glad All Over”? Or have you ever really shook everything you’ve got to the theme to Hawaii Five-0? If you’re into music, it’s worth checking out who the music world feels is great enough to give this honor to – they must really have something going on! The Hall also has an award for those in the music business who don’t actually make music – that’s the songwriters, producers, managers, promoters, etc. that keep the music coming to you. This year it was won by the songwriting duo of Gamble & Huff, who wrote the classic song “If You Don’t Know Me By Now”, which has been redone throughout the years by singer after incredible singer. Baby V ‘Will’ Be Emo March 11, 2008
Hey! Remember how not everyone in High School is all happy and into sports and bright colored clothing? Vanessa Hudgens does (even though she never went to regular high school – she was homeschooled!). In her next movie, “Will”, she plays an ‘emo’ outsider kind of girl, in lots of black, and only comes out of her shell when she bonds with a group of other, very different from each other outsiders at her school over music. Vanessa will be shredding on guitar, and singing from her heart… and will have at least one kiss with a guy named Will – who is NOT played by Zac Efron! How will we survive this, ladies? Happy Birthday, Emily! Who doesn't know Hannah Montana's best friend, Lily?!? While Miley's been out on tour, the show has taken a break, and Emily has had time to work on some other projects of her own! Coming up for her is a TV movie called Dadnapped with fellow young actors Moises Arias, Denzel Whitaker, and David Henrie. The movie is scheduled to debut on Disney Channel in October of this year, so look out for it! The over 25 year running teen soap has been on air the whole time in Canada, but now that Nickelodeon has started a new teen oriented channel – The N – it finally has a real home in the US! This is not your average teen soap. And to prove it, there are two specials headed your way: A documentary called Degrassi: Doing What Matters, about the cast member’s real life journey to build a school in Africa airs on March 14th @ 8pm, and special one-hour Degrassi Spring Break movie on April 4th @ 8pm. How are you supposed to remember all those dates and times? It’s easy! Just remember this: always watch Degrassi the Next Generation EVERY Friday night @ 8pm! March 7, 2008 The best of the best is all that’s left on American Idol! Last night four more contestants were cut (ouch!) leaving us with our top 12 – the core of the final 11 shows. Since Kady, Luke, Asia’h Epperson and Danny were booted last night, and with talent like that leaving, you know the final 12 have got to be amazing. They are Syesha Mercado, David Archuleta, Michael Johns, Jason Castro, David Cook, Kristy Lee Cook, Chikezie Eze, David Hernandez, Ramiele Malubay, Amanda Overmyer, Carly Smithson, and Brooke White. Beginning next week, the finalists will be singing songs from the Lennon/McCartney songbook (otherwise known as The Beatles) which has never been done in the history of the show! The Canadian rocker will be hooking up with Kohl’s to release a new line of clothes this summer! The label will be called Abby Dawn, which was Avril’s nickname as a child. She says it’s going to have all the elements of her own unique fashion sense brought into the mix, and also commented that in a Kohl’s store, “it’s really going to stand out.” Sure, that means a lot of t-shirts and hoodies, but the colors and patterns will be more edgy, and the fit will not be your standard boys fit. You don't have to be "Supernatural" to wish this star a Happy Birthday today! Even if he is! This hottie has been in our television lives for a long time! All the way back when we crushed on him on Days of Our Lives as Eric Brady, through Dark Angel, Dawson's Creek, Still Life and Smallville, he's kept us believing in that cute guy next door! But he's more than that! Back in 2004 he added director and producer to his credits, and was in a pretty cool indie film last year that ran the festival circuit for a while!
