JDRF Diabetes Walk
Nov 7, 2008
Saturday November 1st was the start of Diabetes Awareness Month, and what better way to kick it off but to raise money?!? That’s what over 15,000 people in the Los Angeles area did, including Nick Jonas! Nick, along with millions of people around the world, suffers from Diabetes. Diabetes is a disease where your body had trouble regulating its blood sugar and glucose levels. Because the body is unable to control these things, people who have diabetes usually rely on insulin, most of the time given through a shot or a pump. There is no cure yet for Diabetes, which is why JDRF coordinated the walk.
Nick showed up at Dodgers Stadium and let the crowd know how much it means to him that that not only did they show up to walk, but because the walkers in Los Angeles raised over $2 million. Nick kicked off the walk by cutting the starting line ribbon. Then, a group of lucky fans got to go inside Dodgers Stadium to take the first lap with Nick! It was a great turn out of walkers and an even greater turn out for the support of Diabetes Awareness!
